Anders Drejer er uddannet civilingeniør i virksomhedssystemer fra Aalborg Universitet og afleverede ph.d. inden for samme emne i 1997. Han har været ansat som professor på Aalborg Universitet, Department of Business and Management, siden 2003. Anders Drejer har publiceret artikler i flere internationale tidsskrifter og udgivet en lang række bøger, senest ’Strategi på kanten - ledelsesværktøjer til en ny tid’. Han optræder desuden hyppigt i medierne, blandt andet som klummeskribent, og deltager i flere danske bestyrelser.
